The Benefits of Cloves in your Chai Latte

Cloves may not be the obvious spice found in your chai latte, but it a vital addition to our blend! Cloves are dried flower buds from the clove tree. They are an extremely well-known spice that is originally from Indonesia. Cloves have been used in cooking for many years now and has always been used traditionally in chai. They're also a notable ingredient in Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine, thanks to their many pain-relieving abilities.

Cloves have antioxidants that help in fighting free radical damage to the body and boost our immune system. The anti-mutagenic and anti-microbial properties found in cloves may also break down oral diseases and headaches. Cloves have vitamin E and vitamin K which help in fighting bacterial infection. It helps in lowering down the temperature of your body.

Cloves may aid digestion, boost your immune system, and help manage diabetes.  When brewed warm (like in a chai latte), the cloves are said to relieve congestion. Cloves also possesses anti-inflammatory and pain-killing properties

Ayurveda describes certain plants to be effective in developing and protecting the immune system, this is where cloves come in. The dried flower bud of clove contains compounds that can help in improving the immune system by increasing the white blood cell count, thus, improving delayed-type hypersensitivity.
