Ingredients:
- 1 cup self raising flour
- 2/3 cup caster sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- Pinch of salt
-
1/2 teaspoon Chai Lords Instant Chai Latte powder
- 3/4 cup soy milk.
- 1 tablespoon melted butter (I used Nuttelex buttery)
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
For chai sugar:
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/2-1 teaspoon Chai Lords Instant Chai Latte powder
- Optional: maple syrup to brush over doughnuts before dipping is sugar
Method:
- Preheat oven to 180C
- Combine flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and chai powder in a mixing bowl
- Add butter, milk and vanilla and stir until just combined
- Fill doughnut tin with batter until about 3-4 full - allow room for doughnuts to rise otherwise the batter may flood the hole in the middle
- Bake for 8-10 minutes
- Once baked, allow to cool slightly and brush with maple syrup (OPTIONAL - I did both as wasn’t sure the sugar would stick without. It did with/and without and both were delicious so up to you!)
- In a bowl, combine sugar with chai powder and cover doughnuts generously
Makes approximately 9 doughnuts
