Ingredients
- 65g sugar
- 40g butter
- 3 Granny Smith apples
- 2 sheets Puff pastry
- 2 tablespoons Chai Lords Instant Chai Latte
Method
- Preheat oven to 190C
- In an oven safe pan, begin melting the sugar over a low to medium heat.
- Peel and core the apples and cut into quarters.
- Lay two Puff pastry sheets on top of each other and gently press together with a rolling pin.
- Bring the sugar to a golden brown Caramel (swirl thr pan, do not mix with any utensils)
- When the Caramel reaches the desired colour, add the butter and swirl around the pan.
- Arrange the apples around the pan and give the pan a gently shake to allow the Caramel to reach up the sides of the apples.
- Keep cooking on low heat for a further 5 minutes to allow the apples to begin to soften
- Place a plate, similar size to your pan over the pastry and cut into a circle.
- Dust the apples with the chai lords powder and then place the pastry over the apples, tucking in at the edges.
- Pierce some holes through the pastry for steam to escape.
- Bake for approx 30 minutes or until pastry is dark golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 2 minutes before carefully placing a plate on top of your pan and flipping the tart over, careful of the hit Caramel!
- Enjoy with vanilla ice cream or creme fraiche.
